Unicode text works across fonts

Type or paste real Kannada Unicode text into the preview and switch between catalog designs. The letters remain the same data while each font changes their appearance.

That means Kannada content can stay searchable, copyable, and readable by modern browsers and operating systems instead of depending on private ASCII positions.

Converted from Nudi does not mean legacy encoded

The “Converted from Nudi” label records a design’s origin. It does not mean the downloadable Lipi version requires Nudi ASCII text.

Original legacy Nudi files may map Kannada-looking glyphs onto Latin code positions. Lipi’s converted catalog files map those designs for Unicode Kannada input and modern shaping workflows.

How to verify a Kannada font

Enter a Kannada word in the live preview, copy that word into another Unicode Kannada font, and confirm that the text remains readable. You can also search the word on the page or inspect its Unicode code points.

  • Use Unicode text as the long-term source of truth.
  • Download TTF for desktop applications and WOFF2 for websites.
  • Use the converter for documents that still contain legacy Nudi ASCII data.
  • Review the font license and test required characters before production use.
