What is the difference between Nudi ASCII and Unicode Kannada text?
Legacy Nudi text stores Kannada-looking glyphs behind Latin character codes. Unicode stores standard Kannada code points, making text searchable, sortable, accessible, and portable across modern applications and websites.
Can Lipi convert Nudi documents to Unicode Kannada?
Yes. The converter supports pasted text and supported local files. Conversion runs in your browser, and you should review names, punctuation, conjuncts, and document formatting before publishing the result.
Does Lipi upload my fonts, documents, or Font Studio projects?
No. Font analysis, conversion, editing, project storage, backup, and export run in your browser. Files are not uploaded to Lipi servers. Browser storage can be cleared, so keep project backups for important work.
What does Font Analyzer tell me about a TTF font?
Font Analyzer reports metadata, Unicode mappings, OpenType table availability, glyph coverage, and live shaping previews. A font file does not reliably label linguistic roles such as vowel or consonant, so language-specific group names require curated language data.
Does Font Studio preserve OpenType shaping?
Font Studio keeps the source glyph order and glyph IDs while replacing only edited TrueType outlines. This preserves existing GSUB, GPOS, GDEF, cmap, and metric relationships, but every exported font should still be tested in target browsers and applications.
Are all fonts on Lipi free for commercial use?
Do not assume that every font has the same permissions. Review the license shown for the specific font before downloading, modifying, embedding, redistributing, or using it commercially.
Which font format should I use on a website?
Use WOFF2 for normal web delivery because it is compact and broadly supported. Keep TTF for desktop installation, inspection, editing, or workflows that require the original TrueType file.
How can I publish my Kannada font on Lipi?
Email the font files, family and style names, creator or rights-holder details, license terms, attribution requirements, and representative Kannada sample text. Lipi reviews ownership, technical quality, Unicode mapping, shaping, and web suitability before publication.
